DM Courtyards

Hi

I wasn't sure if this should be part of Bragging or Public Releases but since I'm linking the map for download I guess it's a release of sorts.

This is actually my first (almost) completed map after many, many years of attempting to make a one and giving up so it’s not a really ambitious map and I haven’t tried anything too clever - Just a simple TDM map. It's called Courtyards and is currently only DM and for Allied Assault. It's not quite complete as I would like to add a few finishing touches which I haven't gotten around to like furniture or maybe some more custom textures, but in terms of the architecture and layout of the map I’m fairly happy with it.

As mentioned this is my first map so I've spent many hours combing forums such as this one and over at Modtheatre looking for answers to my many questions, like how to add custom textures and basic scripting advice and well frankly just about everything, so thank you for keeping all this valuable information available.

If you have any ideas how it might be improved or any general comments, they would be welcome.

cool map! seems to be pretty much a corridor shooter, maybe 1 or 2 big open places for some central action will make it more complete. also it seems you did a fast vis compile, and the fps is becomes pretty bad as a result of the map size. if you do a full vis properly, the compile will only take a few minutes. my own map is pretty big+complex but only takes 3-5 minutes on vis stage :D

I don't play the game anymore but I do appreciate the effort put forth. nice to see new things. looks pretty good.

Yeah the intention was to keep it close quarters with a few open places, much like Algiers but a bit more variety in routes from one side of the map to the other. In hindsight I would have liked to have made some of the courtyards a bit bigger so your point is a valid one saaaimen. I've taken out and resized some of the buildings to open things out a bit more so we'll see how it goes.
By the way I saw your map in the MOHAA alias fb page saaaimen and downloaded your map. Very nice indeed. I'm glad to see i'm not the only one still doing some mohaa mapping :)
