I have also tried to leave Mr $window out of this story, where I only used the script_object $broken. This makes $broken happier and swings open with the door. So my guess is, as long as the $broken part of the func_window ...

A special door
I have made a func_rotating door and then made a hole in it to fit a func_window.
The windows and the door has been targetnamed and in the script I wrote:
$window bind $door
$broken bind $door
