Make sure the top of the box is high enough to stop grenades going through - even in the stock maps you can throw nades that just vanish into the sky. This kills the whole sky illusion so I always make sure the sky is high enough to take a nade thrown from the highest point.

Map length and width i ...

I'm with Tom, make all the small incidental brushes into Detail brushes.
Be careful not to go crazy with Detail, but things like ladder steps or building trim are ok.

I used to compile over night before i learnt that (12hrs). Now it's more like 1hr max.

re the texture clash, I just had the same thing on final compile on a map I'm working on. Seems to be an issue with mohlight.

I made the clashing textures detail and it cleared the problem. Hope it works for u. (if they're already detail, make them structural)

yeah i hear that about maps being big enuff already but I guess I'm thinkin with choppers etc....

As for no rescale of player, we had a 'Ganja Man' mod on our server for ages that, on trigger, made the player double size (and extra health etc). The mod evloved to later include other triggers that ...

Map Size

I was just wondering....

First, the ground space in Radiant is limited so max map size is wotever the grid size is, right?
Second, you can resize all models, including player models in-game, right?

So here's my question: Could you build a map half size, scale all the models (including players ...

No. I only want to get the stats out, not back in. Does this mean I don't need any cvars business?

Basically I'm trying to operate a league and tryin to avoid putting all game scores in by hand. End results are to be auto dumped (via PHP) into database and reproduced using PHP to a web page.
It ...

Hi & thx for all the replies.

You're right about source code dcoshea - can't see anything worth viewing as all the main scripting is serverside.
I know enough PHP to strip lines from a server log file and reuse that info, assuming that info is in the log file. Can anyone tell me what's written to ...

How Do I Get Game Data Out

Not sure this is scripting exactly but anyone know how i can get and reuse game data, like player scores at the end of maps.
I've seen websites with "xxx is todays top fragger with yyy score" - this must be collecting that data. Like running a status command in the console and dumping it somewhere ...

I'm with MadHatter here... I use sparingly and the more complex the shapes involved, the more likely it will crash my Radiant. Also the more brushes involved the more likely I'll crash.
I will use it now and again tho when nescessary and ALWAYS after saving!!

These are the ones exploding on me:
static/vehicle/europe/car-gray
static/vehicle/europe/car-silver
static/vehicle/europe/car-tan

I haven't tried the Merc - will now tho and see what i get... And yeah, if you're too close when it blows, it'll take you out too!

I also notice that static/vehicle ...

wow thx - some cool suggestions... I'll try some things out...
I never had cars explode on me before either (in other maps I built) but for some reason, hit em enuff and the explode. Well, they disappear and if you're too close you'll die - no actual explosion... strange.

Thx for help - will let u ...
