the background is nice per se i guess but somewhat dull and distracting - the blue windows on it have the effect of a k1 kick right where it hurts (in the ocular sense) followed by an uppercut - technical knockout in the first round.
what i do like ...

you don't really need an alpha channel for that (depending on what you wanna do, of course). do you want the ID just a single texture?

to make something transparent in game, you need an alpha channel... (check the hud stuff, most textures on there use it)

either way, if you completely wanna change the pass to something else, it would be better to make a new shader for it...

i don't know if this helps you, but instead of looking ...

but either way, if you wish to give it some movement, include these lines


deformvertexes wave 30 sin 0 60 0 .1
deformvertexes wave 2 sin 0 1 0 .2


and play around with the numbers

whereas

deformVertexes wave <div ...

afaik the frothy water thing doesnt even look like water...

if you want to make a water texture that doesn't move at all:

dude, what's all the fuss about? if you wanna quit mapping just do it, but don't raise hell about your decision...

but, here's an advice so you won't even get so frustrated and wanna stop mapping for such a triviality: save your .map files elsewhere from time to time - on a usb stick or external ...
