I am reading a lot, and learning sowly. However, I still think a step by step tutorial for a small map would be incredibly helpful. For me, seeing the sequence of events that an experianced mapper uses would be great. Do they start off with rooms, then add terain, then sky? When and how do they add ...

Door tut not loading

Hi,

I've been trying for the last 2 days to read the door tutorial but the dreaded "page not available" screen pops up. Bad link? Anybody know where I can find that?

No specific questions, I just wish I could be a fly on the wall from start to finish to see how an experienced mapper starts, builds, finishes. Going step by step would be like a full immersion tutorial. Wouldn't have to be a big map, just a small one that would include the basic room, door, window ...

Newbie Opinion on Mapping

Was wondering............

Do any of you experienced mappers have any completed maps that you could write step by step instructions for? Personally, I think I would learn faster that way rather than trial and error, start, stop, delete, restart, read tuts, ask help, ect. ect, ect.

I'll worry about uploading mps way down the road, if ever. Right now I would like to get a workable decent sized map. Question: say you want to build like a maze of trenches, maybe with some stairs and corridors leading down to lower rooms and corridors. Do you have to do each corridor like in your ...

Gotcha, my player start and light were out of my box. I fixed and the map loaded. I built one nice room that I can't get out of, some map aye? I should pad it, i may need that room before long. Not bad for my first try of mapping. What should I learn next?

I put lights in, but on my second try i paid closer attention to the dos screen. I saw two warnings, a light leak, and a player start leak. I have no clue what that means, but if i had to bet then i would put my money there. any ideas?

Tutorial, first room, light help

The tutorial says, "right click on main window, and select light and a light entity appears." I'm not seeing this, do I have to use one of the drop down menus?

Tutorial, first room, walls

Hi,

I can't seem to figure out the wall section of the tutorial. Where is the "height" view? I create the wall next to the floor, y:32, z:256, but in the upper right view it looks like the wall lays flat over the floor.

Radiant error message, help!!

Hi,

I'm totally new at this mapping thang. I'm eager to learn and determined not to let the complexities get the best of me. First obstacle encountered: I keep getting multiple popup window error messages that say: cannot save, "c:/program files/ea games/mohaa/maps/" is a read only file. I'm not ...
