You can create a brush the size of the opening you want...make sure it intersects the large brush and then use "CSG Subtract". Some have had better luck creating the seperate brushes themselves but CSG works fine for me.
This seems to work with no problems. Will find out when done compiling.
Thanks

Question about modifying large brush

I have a large flat brush. Now I decided I want to put an opening in the middle of it. Can I do that using the one brush, or do I need to make the one brush into four creating the opening?

If you get that error it means the model is non-solid in game. So you can walk and shoot through it.
How do I make it so I can't walk through it or so this doesn't happen. Also, I can spin the mg42 360 degrees with me stepping off the side of a building to do it without falling. How can I fix this?

Don't know what that error means, but it works.....kinda. When I press <ENTER> to switch to mg42, it works good. When I press <EMTER> again to quit using mg42 , I go back to holding my pistol, the mg42 is still on the wall, but I am now also holding a non-functional mg42...wierd. Any ideas on that ...

Do I need more files from a .pkX file?

This mapping finally going right for me. I had previously followed the tutorial for setting up radiant. Now I've followed the tutorial for adding a mg-42. When I compile I get:
WARNING: could not find 'models/statweapons/mg42bipod.map'
How do I remedy this?

Maybe that helps :D
1) What does r_clear 1 do?
2) How do I post a screenshot? I don't have a url to put it to.

Need help with tracing HOM effect!

I made a multi-level structure with a ladder going up the middle. When making the ladder, I did not use any caulk tecture, just the texture I picked for my ladder so I wouldn't have to select all surfaces later to texture. Anyway, I have a type of HOM effect coming off of my ladder. If I am standing ...

Hmmmmmm.....I think I finally understand. I can have a wall, ceiling, or floor as long or wide as I want, but if it over X amount of grids in length I have to create it in panels instead of one large piece. Is that correct? What is the max gris length for a brush?

You have too many vertices along the same axis. The limit is 64. Look for some structure you have repeated along one axis. It could be vertical or horizontal.
I have a single, tall, multi-level buildingin my map which I figure is the problem. I selected the entire structure, made selection detail ...

You have either not put a light in your map, forgotten to enter worldspawn values for suncolor, or there is a leak in your map somewhere ......

I tried a light, but too large an area for ordinary lamps. There are no leaks (at least none reported), and my worldspawn values are:
suncolor 80 80 80 ...
