exactly... like the bridge OBJ map, with the sewer area
even while walking, you slosh aroudn and make noise.
while the designers i'm sure didn't plan on that being a key thing in that level, in reality, it is very important...

I should do something on my pre moh dm maps on sound cues and the ...

For some reason, you'll notice, that majority of the 'tournament' type of maps used in competition are loaded with sound cues...
Some of the greatest maps of all time had nothing to do with brushes, but attention to sound detail and a slick layout.

A sound cue is something that occurs that gives ...

yeah, i think this is the wrong forum to see what kind of maps we'd like to see built, because it will always be something that will challenge you, make you work hard, and study lots and lots of architcture - probably:>

I personally enjoy small heavy action maps that contain multiple lanes to get ...

Heads up to mappers who created maps for recent competitions

EA said for their competition:

Winners will be selected on or about August 20, 2002

It's the 21st now, so any day we should hear the results (although, I doubt they will take many maps - frankly, this competition was too soon and the majority of the mappers for MOH don't have enough experience ...

omfg dude
i had a similar problem with a trigger.. it seems thats always the damn case. Thankfully all the non-static items (doors/trigger items) were done first, making it less painfull to correct.

Also, doing a FULL compile is nice to do overnight while sleepin or while you are at work... But ...

just make sure you have the following so you can play dm/tdm with it
- make sure you have an info_player_start (duh)
- make sure you have an info_player_deathmatch (probably want a handfull of spawnpoints, but that goes w/o saying)
for TDM
- toss in some info_player_axis and info_player_allies ...

Turning down detail in game just cranks up the texture mipmap scale, making things look crappier...

Going full detail just provides cleaner graphics and looks better slightly. Your compile time will be more, but for those out there with high end systems, they'll get a nicer product to look at.

I ...

I think there is a hope for mappers... At least in getting your maps played/viewed... I think you will have to wait some, however.

Theres a few problems we face
1- this is a bigtime mass-consumer shooter, meaning the majority of the people playing it are very casual gamers who probably don't know ...

the ONLY thing i can think of is you might be setting compile command line parameters to skip entitys? (i dont know if there is that option)

Perhaps make sure that you dont have anything like that.

Actually, a couple of other quick things to check
Make sure the heights on the items are correct ...

very interesting, I've never heard of this problem
perhaps it's the old 'points missing from grid' issue...
hmm, I think on this bug it's time to maybe send out for tech support with EA OR the creator of radiant.. faces disappear off of polygons often, but in this case, it seems illogigal compared ...
