Using ASCII in Multiplayer Name
Hey guys. How do you use ascii language to change your name to symbols? I realize that alt + 0169 on the number pad will make ? symbol. But when I go to use that symbol in my name it comes up a ? in game. Any ideas. Because other letters work just not the complicated string of symbols. BTW I've seen it done a few times and never got an answer on how. I see tutorials for this but I can't get it to actually work in game.

Not sure..but in spearhead when i added a tm ...guess it stands for trademark...i noticed the game stopped telling me who was killing me at the top..like Gold was machine gunned by etc..etc..Why this happens in sh i have no idea? If ya using mohaa you may wanna see if it happens there also once someone here tells ya how to do what your asking.Sorry cant be of more help..just wanted you to have this info in case your in game messages stop showing up:) BTW glad to see you once more!!

charmap
Go to Start/Run, type "charmap", and hit enter to see the fonts. Down in the lower right is the keystrokes needed to type the character you have selected -- not all have keystrokes.
The characters change depending on which font you are using. So Alt+0169 may be "?" for one font and "?" for another. All your fonts will be listed at the top of the Character Map window, but the one the game is using (facfont-20 I think) probably wont be on the list.

Thank you for the help guys. Nothing worked. Still comes up ? Any character seems too that is part of that character map. I would have left it at that if I hadn't seen other people do it in game with ? and ?. One of the reasons I wanted this was to help some other players who had people stealing thier names since most players don't know how to produce those characters. Gen Cobra ?

Is there a way to change the font in mohaa so a server can see it? Because so far the only way I could get the ? to work was to mod the font. The default font in mohaa doesn't seem to show the symbol in game just a ? A tutorial I found said to open unnamedsoldier.cfg and change the seta name"?" would work. But it's no different than keying it in in multiplayer options.

If you look in pak0.pk3 in the gfx/fonts directory at one of the game fonts you can see what is possible like this for facfont-20Gen Cobra wrote:Is there a way to change the font in mohaa so a server can see it? Serverside fonts won't work the client needs the .tga for the font and the .ritualfont file

(just a quick fly by, though i haven't read the full post just the first few)
I'm fairly sure the UK and US version of Mohaa are the reason for the "?" instead of your symbols. I remember a longtime ago now, on my screen symbol was what it should have been and on other peoples (ppl who i later found out to have a none UK version of the game) it shown up a "?". Although, this was around the time the game came out so a long time ago now. I could be wrong.
