AI act odd in multiplayer.

Post by Wierdo »

For some reason, the AI in my multiplayer map mis-behave. A friend and I tested the map and discovered that it worked perfectly when solo. This went for the computer I built the map on and his computer, which is running stock MOHAA equipment only. (no mods) The problems occur when both of us are in the same map.

Sometimes, the AI will only attack the first person to turn the corner, and will not bother the other player. The first player can resume hiding and the AI will not attack the second player - even if he is the only one visible. Even if he is standing in front of them!

Also, there are times when one player dies, and all bots that were targeting that player resume standing mode.

***My friend was using a windows Vista laptop that does not support open GL graphics, as required by MOHAA.

Does this happen often and is it something that is wrong with the map? Or is it just crappy Vista with only 488k RAM?

Sidenote, Vista must host when playing my XP, or Vista simply crashes.

Ai glitchyness

Post by Wierdo »

Has anybody had glitches with the "new/generic/human.tik" that causes the AI to stop working sometimes?

You're bound to experience lots of weirdities when using the stock AI in multiplayer. You may want to read up on jv's bots. They work perfectly in MP.

fixed some of it

Ok,

I have been able to make it work, sort of. I added a .MIN file for the map, and now Vista will "allow" the map to run. Regular AI work with the modified .tik. However, initial testing shows that the mg42's will not attack the $player if there are more than one player. Why could this be?

Because the global mg42 script was written for single player. If you want properly functioning bot mg's in multiplayer, get jv_bots :)
