Radiant.... just curious, what gives?

Post by AccadaccA »

G'day. This is no biggy but annoying all the same.

I have mapped for MOH on and off since it was released yet ...
1/ every few times that I install Radiant it works fine yet most times it half loads then pauses at the window where you add the paths to the game, maps, etc.
It only needs to be clicked "OK" twice or "Enter" key twice as all the path(s) info is correct. I installed the exact same file on my son's puter and it goes all the way through loading PK3 files without hesitation. :?

Both are installed in the same default path of:
C:/Program Files/MOHAATools/ and I even tried the following path:
C:/Program Files/MOHAATools/MOHAATools/ when it went there by mistake.

Because it has worked this way on and off, I uninstalled and tried another MOHAATools download but got the same sh!t happening.
2/ Also, I had two installments of Radiant but only one showed in the "Add / Remove Software" of Windoze XP.
Because I have both expansion packs SH & BT I also have the SpearHead SDK installed but I'm strictly editing for MOHAA a.t.m..

3/ Also, what is the latest version of Radiant for MOHAA and where can I get it these days? Same questions go for Spearhead & Breakthrough too.

Ok, so I asked 3 questions at once, I'll behave now.
Thank you for any assistance.

Ad. 1, I have no idea. :)

Ad. 2. The vanilla AA Radiant was originally distributed as a self-extracting ZIP archive, so there's no way it could ever appear in Add/remove. The one that appeared must've been the Spearhead SDK, as it came packaged as an InstallShield installer.

Ad. 3. There were only 2 versions of Radiant released - the vanilla AA one and the one bundled with the Spearhead SDK (the only difference being the support for the Spearhead model format and the license agreement - only the Spearhead SDK had both). There were no updates, so the original releases are the only ones available.

1/ Dang!

2/ Doh, I should have figured it out myself.... but didn't.
I should have checked the MOHAATools directory after the uninstall process. Knowing this I will now "delete" any instances of MOHAATools (Spearhead SDK should already be uninstalled). Reboot, then try installing again which should solve # 1/.... hopefully.
I think the problem may stem from copying it all (editing tools, my maps, etc) from one Hard Drive to another or from backup CDs when replacing HDDs.

3/ Oh, ok. Not doubting your word, but I have read something about "MOHAA SDK" and thought that it was an updated version as it's not often referred to as that. I've just known it as "Radiant".
Plus the version compiling error I've seen (below) :
************ ERROR ************
Q3MAP Version 1.34

... made it sound plausible.

Like I said it's no biggy, but I appreciated your help / "heads up" all the same.
Cheers mate.

1/ under preferences, check the load last PROJECT on open (don't do map, unless you really want to).

Thanks mate, but it doesn't solve the start up issue. The problem lies before it reads all of the shaders it stops for the correct paths even though it already has the correct paths. Although I agreed to the default paths it displayed upon first start after installation.
To continue it only needs the OK button clicked twice or hit the Enter key twice. Just silly how it stops for that only on some installations.
It acts as if it's reading an old ini configuration. I might as well p!ss it off all together and reinstall the Spearheard SDK.
Cheers anyway
