ubersound info

Post by Gold »

I enabled some sounds locally...locally meaning i wanted to hear the sounds if i went thru the built in multiplayer menu and started a server.non-dedicated .the reason i forced the sounds to play is for testing purposes and because some sounds in mohha doesnt seem to work by going thru the menu and starting a server but if ya start a dedicated server these sounds play perfectly for the connected client..Most the sounds i am referring to are the sounds the ambience.scr calls up such as

if(level.script == "maps/dm/mohdm1.scr")
{
thread sound ( -56 -840 16 ) cricket
thread sound ( 582 2551 420 ) cricket

my question.I used jvs ubersound workaround to enable these sounds locally..meaning now they work on dedicated or non dedicated server.It does produce errors thou in the console when the maps 1st loads..for the server only...i do not see any errors while the map is playing thou.heres what the errors look like.

DUPLICATE ALIASES: cricket4 and cricket4
DUPLICATE ALIASES: wind_trees7 and wind_trees7
DUPLICATE ALIASES: wind_trees5 and wind_trees5

Will these errors cause a server to crash? Or are they harmless?

It won't cause anything else but some spam in your qconsole file.

You don't need to cache those sounds since they are already cached in the ubersound for "dm moh obj train" causing the duplicate sound error.

Didn't realize mohdm1 had cricket sounds :?
You could look at the .mus files and play with the aux channels.

Just a thought 8-)
