Use MOHAA to join completely different game

Post by Wierdo »

That's what I want to know about. Lets say that I took "bloodgulch.map", compiled some BSP, took that and all associated shaders and placed them in a pk3, then put that in MOHAA/main. Would there be a way that I could then access the Halo game lobby and join a game of Bloodgulch deatchmatch (Slayer) ?

More importantly, how does MOHAA know where to locate games to connect to on LAN, and what can be done to make it look at a game other than MOHAA?

I actually own legal copies of both games and want to experiment.

Lol, dude, do you even realize how different these technologies are? They're like from totally different planets. What you are asking for is just impossible. File formats are different, network protocols are incompatible.

That's just a total no-go.

Now that you mention it, I see how it could be very, very involved. Impossibly beyond my level of abilities for sure. But is it really; like . . . impossible? Or is it just highly impractical and painfully difficult?

Say there was a game that used the Quake 3 engine and handled BSP's in a similiar manner. Could such be emulated?

Just a theory here.

No. While the base of the formats may be similar, there are numerous nuances that make it impossible.
