restricting field of vision / placeable fog of war

Post by Samboring »

Is there any way to limit the field of vision near edges of the map so you don't have to work your butt off to make the map limitations look realistic from all possible approaches? I just mean like when your in the center of the map or up high so you can't see to the corners of the map via some kind of common texture perhaps?

Its like I want some guy to parachute down and I can imagine seeing the maps edges. I can't really do anything about it either, as you know the crude method of dealing with these issues under normal circumstances is to bring up the terrain or to obscure the edges from ground level. However, with a lot of above ground level structures and from the air this becomes difficult on a smallish map.

EA must have used some sort of like texture-placeable fog of war to help them hide the limitations of the map....

Does anyone understand me? Thanks guys, its a good group here.

I guess I understand, you might want to look at the first level of Spearhead and see what they did

EA didn't make the game, 2015 did, EA just published it

I've got MOHAA

MOHAA... can't look at first level of spearhead, and especially without MAP file.

What does that "VIS" texture do? One of them must do it! Is there a Vision_clip? A func_can't see here, a info_eyeblockade and etc.?

try simply texturing your sky with just skycaulk (common/skycaulk) and then
setting your farplane around 300-400u shorter than your map's boundries and setting a farplane_color for 0.333 0.333 0.359 . you'll wind up with a deep fog and the sky will match the color of your fog (gray hue) . it won't be perfect but it'll look something like this .....

dude, I said "MOHAA" so I can't play the map. I don't have spearhead.

By the way, is it any good? Do you get to be Russian? You've got me all curious.

I'm a little skeptical though, MOHAA does kinda s**K, in a way, so I' suspect that the expansions would be even cornier.

I'm looking at COD1.

Oddly enough, I just bought this computer in september and it can't load any game beyond the 2004 barrier (same barrier as my 2002 celuron I). "Graphics card?" What is a "Graphics card?" A circuit board inside the computer? How do you make them do better games? In any case COD 2, Airborne, all that shiite, it laughs in my face via error windows.

Since you have annoyed me, with your taunting you must answer these questions three, or four or roughly you know the questions I asked.

And one more bonus: United Offensive, that has SAME graphics as COD1 one right? So the demo not working is not a prob with my graphics card right?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Someone help me my brain is turning to sludge!
