Entity # of type 'func_rotatingdoor' leaked

Post by Humberto! »

Hello, all.
I've attempted to solve this, but the methods that searching yielded to me did not help. There is not a leak in my skybox and no .lin pointfile.
I found that duplicating the door can cause this problem. I deleted all of the doors and did a test compile to make sure that the message was gone and i remade all of the doors without copying anything. When I ran the compiler again, the error had reappeared for all but one of my func_rotatingdoors...
I'm left rather puzzled :?

Sound like when you select your door/origin brush to make it rotatingdoor that something else is in the map is selected. :?

just a guess :)

Find them in Radiant by using the misc -> find entity / brush function

No, I press escape and there are no brushes other than the origin and the door selected. I wouldn't think that that is the problem, because now some light entities are 'leaked' as well.

I wouldn't assume that this would affect my map too badly, because the rest of the compile goes smoothly and the doors work fine in-game.

this is a common random error and doesn't really mean anything....
Ok, let me rephrase that, we don't know what it actually does, but it is caused when you copy/paste lights or doors. It shouldn't affect anything in your map, just ignore it.

Entity # of type 'func_rotatingdoor' leaked : Solution Found

Post by Santa's_Killa »

Personally, I think this error has been one of the most frustrating I have ever enccountered since I started using MOHRadiant and it is the one that has plagued me the most.

I have been trying to make a map this last few weeks and time and time again, this error kept popping up, whenever I made a new door. And, it always popped up "only" when I created a brush that was textured with an area portal, which I use, to cut down fps.

I must stress here, that I rarely if ever duplicate doors and I never create the door completely (i.e. right click and assign the "func > rotating door" to it) if I know beforehand that I need to duplicate a certain type of door.

In an effort to finally find a solution, I searched for the entity (which always consists of two brushes, the actual door brush and the origin textured brush) and then completely deleted the entire entity before creating two new brushes to create a new door.

To no avail, because time and time again I got the same error, no matter how many times I completely deleted the entire door entity.

Finally, I decided to delete the entire door entity and the area portal brush and to my amazement, no errors were reported.

So, if you you like me only get this error when you have doors that have an area portal brush on it, then don't just delete the entire door entity, but also delete the area portal brush too and then only after you have deleted all of these three brushes, should you go on to create a new door, origin and area portal brushes.

As to what causes this error, I have absolutely no idea.

Strange how life conspires to make liars of us.

I just created a door, with no area portal and got the error.

I deleted and recreated both door and origin brushes, but kept on getting this error continuously and no matter what I do, it keeps appearing.

Strange thing is I make a bacup of my maps (of major updates) where I have no errors and when I go back to this map and create a new door (in the same place) I get no errors. Even stranger is that the first thing I did after saving the backup was to create only this new door and I decided to test it and got the errors.

I am beginning to think that there is a bug in MOHRadiant which actually causes this error, with no help from us mappers.
