MBuilder stuck at prt

Post by zakgord »

I had been using rodiant and mbuilder for a couple years prior to this with no problem. Today I worked on a map, but when I went to build it in MBuilder, it stays stuck at.....nevermind....

I just looked at it and it finally budged past building .prt. It's on initial lighting phase now. That was weird.

It stayed stuck there at 0.00 seconds for 10 min or so, it has never moved that slow during any previous build for this map or any others I have made. Don't know why it's so slow now. I tried restarting, resaving, making sure directories are fine....it all checks out ok.

Any other map I have builds through at normal speed....for some reason my latest map has really slowed it down. I made few changeds...mostly textures and lights.

Also, (I make several save-as files for a map during build), I went back to try and rebuild an old save using mbuild on this same map...it too is really slow. Weird.

Lighting can really jack up the compile time if its detailed lighting. I haven't used mbuilder in so long I forget what actually happens but I remember that trying to compile with detailed lights made it take forever.

Only do final lighting when you have EVERYTHING perfect and are ready to distribute the map. It makes the lighting look a little cleaner. when you are testing maps ALWAYS do the -fast setting for ANY lighting.
It usually takes a 2-4 hours for a good sized map to compile final, at least on my rig.
