Unable to create spheres

Post by Crusader »

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to mapping, have played around with radient for a little while so do know how most of the simpler things are done
However, when I create a brush, and use the "Brush" menu to create a sphere, upon entering the number of sides the brush simply vanishes - am i doing something wrong or is there a fault with my radient.

I have tried different values for "sides" - from low values such as 10 up to higher values of 60+ and most of the values inbetween.

Please Help

Hmm I presume neillo is on his lol tour :?

Anyway, Crusader, I'm uncertain why your brushes disappear... making an arbitrary sided brush works for me :?

I realize that this post is three years old, but the same thing is happening to me. So I made a new map file with only a sphere in it and opened it in a text editor. It seems the sphere function is creating erroneous coordinates. The following is taken from the map file:

Code: Select all

( 101.812340 14.111458 64555223440477803000000000000000000000.000000 )
Looks to me like I might need to re-install radient

I believe that is a Radiant error, radiant is very buggy

Making spheres out of brushes is a bad idea in general.

Could you elaborate on that Rookie. Are you saying spheres are bad, or just ones made from a brush? How else would you make one, perhaps spawning one from a script? Maybe a cube with a transparent shader so it looks like a sphere?

I just did some a few weeks ago and used caulk ( brush ). No problems.

I wrote that because 1) they look awful and 2) they way they're implemented is extremely glitchy. I'd try modeling one with patch meshes instead.
