changing r_mode but keep the hud size?

Hey guys, for about a week i'm trying to find a solution for a known problem in competetive gaming.
when you lower up your resolution the text, compass, healthbar and all that automaticly increase size.
now in other games, et, cod you can change it in the config to make it like your desktop size.

for example:
i have r_mode 8, playing r_mode 6. but want to keep the hud size from r_mode 8.

i've trying to search into the pak0.pk3, but haven't found it. i thought it was the virtualsize but had no succes changing this.

anybody knows how to do this?

Without resorting to mods (which are banned in most competitive gaming institutions) there is no way to do that.

However, if mods are allowed in your league/tournament, you can try searching for small HUD mods at mohfiles.com; I've even made one once, but I can't seem to find it on my hard drive.
