Where's my ladder?

Post by Ace of Spades »

OK. I've put a ladder in my map, following a ladder tutorial, compile and can't see the ladder anywhere! The ladder isn't visible after I compile, but when I go back into Radiant, there it is! What's up with that? I tried jumping down in the hole where the ladder is supposed to be and tried to climb in the area the ladder should have been but that didn't work either. Hmmm...did I miss something?

A ladder is made up of 2 components, the physical ladder you see and the func_ladder. The physical ladder you see you must create from individual brushes, to form something that looks like... a ladder; but it's just decoration, it has no function. In frot of your decorative ladder you must place a brush with the ladder texture and assign it to func-ladder. You must give func-ladder the angle the ladder faces. The brush you made func-ladder from can't touch your decorative ladder.

So why does the ladder disapear completely? I make the ladder then add the func_ladder, and I see it and all but it doesn't show up in the game? Hmmmm........I'll have to check the tut again. Maybe i'm screwing something up.
