.EXE pelase someone help me

Post by Yarik »

I am in mid of finishing my map called SPR (Saving private ryan). And right after the map i am starting (well started) work on 4-5 more maps.
  • mp_Saving Private Ryan SP Edition
    mp_Tram Siege
mp_Chatue (Dont know how to spell it)
    The Damed (A Dam level)
    mp_Ice
    mp_Assault
And i need something like this. If anyone had the demo and when they tried to install the extra level called "The Hunt" it came with its own extractor so you jsut pick the place MOH/main/ and it will extract there for you. All i need is someone to tell me if there is a shareware or freeware or even a trial version of this software so i can pack my maps?

Map pack is going to be called

"Silver Medal Map Pack" Due date "December 1-30" If the things keep going at the pace they are going at now. Website will be up pretty soon at

Personally I'd leave them as pak files, I wouldn't be very confident about using untrusted executable files (no offense), you could be putting anything on my system.

I normally don't bother downloading un-offical maps, tools, etc if they are executable files, plus zip files often offer better compression ratios, which is good for my 56k.

ALLO! ALLO!! von Klinkerhoffen.... These programs actually keep everything entact.. i.e. you can still see the .PK3s etc... the EXE is just an installer to save those without the know how to install software just like you get when you install a game. e.g. File list:-

SETUP.EXE <----- the install proggy
MyMap1.pk3
MyMap2.pk3
etc...

Well agnex just for you I will have a zip file included. I will have two different downloads for you guys. You guys think of me too much. I am not out here to destroy someone's computer. If i was i would have dont it a long time ago. Look how many posts i have i dont think i would be posting so much if i was going to hack a few comps thats crazy. the only reason i want an exe compiler is so that my map pack will look very professional and people would be excited and so that everyone will be playing the maps. (Well that depends much on the kind of maps i realease). But i want everything to look cool. No harm intended for any one.

Notice that the .zip file wont make things smaller. So for those of you weary people i would definatley try to come out with only a .zip file and an exe file for the people that trust me.

(see Wacko's link) i'd recommend this one:

Ghost Installer Free Edition :)

"...you can design your own GUI for the installer using the provided Mr Skinner package, which is great for making your software give a good impression from the very start."

Did you use maximum compression ?

Oh and Dr ABAP, thats the great thing about viruses, they tack themsleves onto exsisting code which would run from the executble. I doubt you'd see "ImAVirus.fil".

I agree, viruses can creep into just about everything. But if you have the sense to have a good virus detection proggy.. then you have no probs????????????? Most software these days comes packaged up, does this mean you don't trust anything?? I'm a developer and I package stuff up all the time... it adds professionalism to something that has obviously had some thought put into it...

But yes we do need to be vigilant when talking about viruses, it's about time those w**kers who write viruses put their talents to better use!! I find people who write viruses very insecure and need to be recognised!! SADDOS!!!!! Try scripting for MOH instead guys, your talents could be better used.......

It depends where it comes from, for example I had no worries about installing MoHAA, because games companies try and avoid viruses tacking onto thier software. Although they're not liable it wouldn't be a good reputation for them, so they attempt to stop it.

You must have played RTCW. hehe. 8) .
Yep those are from RTCW. I am making them almost exactly the same as in RTCW except without the flags. And maybe tram_siege wont have its tram unless the guys here at .MAP help me make it. It will take sometime but i am not at that part.

I will have the proper credits to those who made the RTCW versions of these maps.
