SS Manor TDM Beta

Post by UBER_SOLDAT »

i started this map 4 weeks ago, and i compiled the Beta TDM/FFA version today, with fast vis, so dont email me or post telling me how bad fps is, if it is. i get around 10 average, but thats on my 600mhz, with all settings on medium-full, and my graphics card is getting old now.
post any bugs you find here, or spawn camping problems etc, or email me @ me004e4180@blueyonder.co.uk. and also can you post any ips of servers if you put it on one

kinda cool??? kinda cool he says, come on JV credit where credits due, and this is 1 of those examples.

bloody good job UBER, can't wait 2 get my paint gun and splash some of those nazis!!!

btw, can u actually play on the snooker table? i know JV could script it 4 ya, that if u both run out of ammo u have 2 decide who wins over a game of snooker. rather sporting old chap :D
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

You're such an excellent mapper and modeller. Luckily you're on TR.

Snooker is like pool only with more balls. You have to pot a red ball, then a colour until all the red balls are gone, then you pot the colours....

Uber - Please resize those pics because they fook up the forum.. - cheers

looks classic

Post by tltrude »

Looks like it is destined to be a classic, if the gameplay is as good as the brushwork!

just a suggestion... all of the graves being identical on each side is kinda unrealistic. Try varying them and adding a couple of different ones.

good work, though

though i can't say much (anything) about game flow, this is in deed a very nice one!
some possible improvements:
some very dark areas (from staircase into upper rooms e.g) where i almost got lost should get some lights

put some clip brushes around the crates, those handles are rather annoying because they stop the player sliding along the crates

this window from outside

looks this way from inside

a little bit z-fighting:

maybe use terrain for the slope down to the graveyard, it does'nt look very natural...

but as I said, very well done, if gameplay is fine, it'll become one of my favourite maps! :D

i noticed those bugs the last time i played it [apart from the crates], most are fixed now. ive been trying to get the fps up outside a bit by replacing some of the oak trees with common trees

the version at the top of the page is from a few months ago. ive done loads since then, and the lift is working fine aswell now.
ill try and get it finished in about 2 weeks, once i get operation sealion done

ill change the graves soon aswell. i made this map a while ago for my sig. its an almsot exact copy of Tyne Cot cemetery [in Ypres i think]. the only difference is my version hasnt got all 12000 graves and 35000 names on the walls around it. i made a texture for the graves in that with 'A soldier of the great war' or something on it. the graves at Theipval [memorial in this map] are all of unknown soldiers i think, so i can just use that, for the british graves, the crosses are french graves
this is the tyne cot map btw:

ive took the screenshots off from above. they only take up about the screen with my resolution, but theyre off now anyway, and it takes too long to resize then upload all of em
