LOD Texturing question

Post by LEgionOfDeicide »

I read in another post that LOD can only have one texture. My question is, how then did they create Omaha beach with holes from explosions that have a different texture? I would like to an this sort of thing to my maps. Can anyone help?

Each 512x512 part of the LOD Terrain can have it's own texture. Deleting faces from the Terrain and replacing them with a structural brush or patch mesh can also work to create differences in texture.

using ctrl + shift the same as you use 2 select faces will select just the 1 area of terrain (still 512x512 tho, unless larger) once you have just 1 terrain section selected you can apply different textures than those used on the rest of the same terrain :D
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

Let me get this straight...
So I only can apply 1 texture to a LOD part of 512*512 ??
Or can I apply more textures to that one part ?

Thats right, you can only apply 1 texture to each 512x512 block. You can apply a different texture to any block ajoining it, but only 1 texture to each block.
