I have to say that when I heard shopping center I thought very little of the map but decided to download it once some feedback started. This map is very impressive. Very clean lines...lots of glass to shoot out...and omg did I say NEON!!!! That was highly impressive since I can not remember a map doing that before.

Only errors I really piced up on in the few secs of playing it was the lighting was a bit too dark, glass doors sound like wood....you know bout both of these already and have a plan of attack so no big deal there.

The performance I think could be the issue. I got down to 40 in a few places by myself. I can only guess want a server full of people would produce. Then again I know there is a pile of brushwork so that was prob to be expected. I would not make this map too much larger for fear of the performance dropping further.

Again this is a top notch map :)

:D  :D
If I had imagined this reaction, I wouln't have dared to publish the map in this messy state...

Ty all for your comments! I'm taking them very serious, and will give you a beta as soon as it's done.

A elevator is a nice idea, will give it a try. Escalators/Rolltreppen? Probably not, for the reasons panTera mentioned:Too much trouble for just a gimmick, because nobody would stop running on them anyway.

Floorlights? Yeah, this sounds like fun! Will check it out!

What I still need (as you may have noticed in another thread) is a way to make these chairs pushable. I believe this would be nice. Or do you think it's fine as it is?

The performance... Well, it's just a fast compile, so maybe it will get better, than I will take a deep look where I could use some hint brushes. But I'm afraid the framerate won't explode with this, the amount of details and glass is a framekiller, and I won't give that up...

Okay! Thank you very much again, there's work to be done now and you'll be first to see the results!

WOW that looks so awesome. I see that tables and that chairs. Did you model those or are they made in MOH Radiant? And the glass what is the name of that texture?

The Neons are just square brushes, 2 units thick, front and back with neon texture and rest with nodraw. For the neon texture, the easiest way would be to d/l the pk3 and look at the not very secret textures and shader files
If you do not want to d/l the complete pk3, because the map itself isn't complete by far, take the neon.pk3, where you'll find just the neon lights and some pure glass.

sorry, did overlook your 1st post, I'm a little confused be this thread itm...
modelling? tried it once with milkshape and gave up rather soon. no, they're made in MOHR with probably too much detail in the patchmesh seat  (will have to make them less FPS eating!)

Are you running the shopp.pk3 or did u just use the neon? With MOHAA or SH? When did you d/l it? The MOHAA version is up since Mar 14th...

I had a similar prob when starting the map in MOHAA, when it was still made with the SH SDK, but the now d/lable version in this thread ought to work with MOHAA itself
Everything here is a bit messy in the moment, because I have 98SE + XP + MOHAA twice + SH and am trying to map in XP but there's just the SH SDK installed and then I have to launch 98 to map in the MOHAA SDK and back and forth and huuu

Are there different versions of MOHAA? Maybe, post the complete error message and s/o might be able to help u...

What you have so far is nicely done, but it's small and badly lit. You could really use some decent mall textures. Here's an HL map I did several years ago. You are welcome to the textures if you want them. It has everything including Atms, drinking fountains, cash registers, scanners, clothes racks, window displays, etc.
