Post by Yarik »

When I was making my underwater map i had a few problems. First off this

/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2266
Check out the picture in the game
My door looks like that when I try to open it. Its actually two doors put together to open at the same time. Instead it is doing that. Yes I put the origin into where I want the doors to turn. But that doesnt work for somereason.

Well two brushes are the two doors. Plus I have two origins for the two doors. When I tested this kind of mapping in a test room where I made a bunch of stuff I wanted to see what it would look like in a game that im going to make. And the doors opened just fine no problems there. but when I made the same exact thing in this map and compiled it rotated in the middle. :?

If you select a door and press ctrl + e, is the corresponding origin brush automatically selected?

To make a door, make a brush for the door and another one with origin texture. Select both and turn this into a func_rotatingdoor.
If you select then one of these two brushes and press Ctrl+e, both should become selected.

Have you selcted all four brushes for turning this into a func_rotatingdoor?
You must make each door seperatly and the engine will know that they belong together

So even the Origin has to be a rotating door function?

Not the origin brush by itself but the one brush or the group of brushes that are the door plus the origin brush ALL TOGETHER are one func_rotatingdoor

So even... : My English is probably to bad for this: Read it twice, don't know :?

Looking at the ASCII-artwork in your first post:
These are TWO doors! Again: They have to be build seperatly!
Make the left wing: Turn one door brush plus one origin brush BOTH SELECTED into the 1st func_rotatingdoor, then make the right wing the same way or copy the left.
