We should all say a prayer !

Post by Jack Ruby »

My country is at war ( UK ) just thought we should pay a little thought for our boys fighting out there, the world will be a better place without Mr Hussein. Also give a thought for the poor people sitting in their shelters in Baghdad, they could do without this madness, things will get better for them I am sure :)

I havn't been able to do much since this thing started - War live on TV is such a surreal and disturbing sight....

My prayers go out to those families who have lost loved ones in the 2 helicopter accidents

my prayers go out 2 all in this world not just the people who have died, are willing to die or wanting to die, but also to the innocent people in this war -the civilians,

i don't wanna start preaching about my views on bush blair or saddam, but a prayer 4 the them included wouldn't go amiss
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

Amen. I pray for those who are fighting in the war now, either US, UK or Iraq. The Iraqis civilians suffer the most. Just hope Saddam dies, WMS are destroyed, everybody packs up, goes home, and there's world peace again.

Beeing an Atheist, I don't do much praying. But as the existence of war ( and the use of Religion as an excuse to start wars ) is one of the reason for my atheism, I can only say that it sucks. I'm not well enough educated on the subject to comment with any insight, but I hope it's over really soon and with minimum deaths as a result. And most of all I hope the war actually achieves something, anything. And if it does not: then there will be some high ranking officials to point some really big fingers at...

I would say I am an atheist too 99% of the time, but when people I love have been hurt its weird how you suddenly find God and prayer for his help.

Please tell me how you are an Atheist 99% of the time. It's like being pregnant, either you are or you aren't!

How do I explain that, well I have huge problems with religion, but when theres no help coming from anywhere ( I prayed when I thought my little brother was gonna die in my arms ) it wasnt a conscious decision to pray, must be a basic human instinct to call for some outside help from somewhere, dont know if thats an explanation but thats what happened.

Well, to be quite honest with you, I have problems with Religion also. I believe in God but not all the religion stuff. Man has put too much of himself into what should be pure and changes it to what we call Religion. Religion does have it's downfalls, but so does man. So, I guess you could say that I believe in the Bible in it's purest form without all of man's perceptions and beliefs on top of it, which is hard to do. But, that innate thing you talk about that is in all humans, that basic instinct in my opinion is God talking to you. Just my opinion, and everyone can take it however they want. That's what makes us human. We can make our own choices and believe what we want. God instilled it in us to have free choice, because he doesn't want to force us to believe in him, we have to choose. So my friend, your choice is yours and mine is mine. In the end, we hope that what we believe in is the truth and real. Just my opinion, and that's why they call it OFF TOPIC!
