Editing the stock Surface Parms.
I am trying to edit the stock texture's surface parms but no matter what I do, they won't change. When you create new textures, you can change the surface parms around, but with stock textures you can't. Anyone know why? Thanks.

I think you're tying to edit just the shader(parts) which won't work.
If you want to edit some stock textures' parms you'll have to extract those textures and shaders and save them under a different name (like you'd do with a new custom texture). If you don't use different names the game will just load it's own pk3's and won't use the parm-changes you made.

Yes I have the textures and shaders extracted. What I am trying to do is change a snow texture to a grass texture. I already changed both the shader and the texture and made a .pk3 named zTextureGrass to make sure that it would be used instead of the stock surfaceparm. Now, if I save it under a different name, then how will the game know to use that as the texture in a stock map versus the original texture?
Thanks for your help.

well you didn't mention in your first post you wanted to change the parms of a stock texture in a stock map. Then of course renaming has no effect as the game tries to load the original texture name. I once tried the exact same thing but for some reason the game didn't read my modified shader from my new pk3 which is strange 'cause the game does seem to read a modified ubersound.scr.
Therefore if you're trying to edit the parms of let's say one texture from the norway-set, you'll have to include the whole (modified) norway-shader. Can't think of another way.

pk3
Have you tried naming the pk3 "AAA.pk3"? Maybe shaders are loaded first and the game ignores any duplacate shader names. Just a thought.
