Yes. your doors can have any texture and be of any size you wish as long as you follow the tutorials about doors. If you want a rock that slides on the ground I would suggest doing it with the script. Here is one I made:

//----------------------------------------------------------->
//tomb threads
//----------------------------------------------------------->

temple_door:

$ra_door_trigger waittill trigger // wait for someone to trigger it
$ra_door speed 32 // it's speed it 32 uints per second
$ra_door playsound ra_door_slide // sound I modified
$ra_door moveNorth 128 // units it travels north
$ra_door waitmove // wait till it's done moving
wait 30 // wait 30 seconds then close it
$ra_door playsound ra_door_slide // sound I modified
$ra_door moveSouth 128 // units it travels south
$ra_door waitmove // wait till it's done moving

goto temple_door // go back and wait for another trigger

//----------------------------------------------------------->

You'll have to find the slide sound in ubersound.scr and modify it to play on your map. Because this is a script door, you'll have to add a trigger_use around the rock and give it a targetname (mine is ra_door_trigger). The rock will need a name as well (mine is ra_door). You will also need to put "thread temple_door" at the top of your script to start the thread.

Hope it's not over your head, but it is a nice way to do doors and not have to bother with function groups. You can also make doors rotates on any axis, up or down by using "rotateXup 90" instead of moveNorth. Any number can be used, even negitive ones, and any axis.

Hope that helps some!
