Kirchhof. Snowy Park just got a makeover.

Post by MPowell1944 »

For those of you who hate the thought of playing Snowy Park on a server, have I got a present for you. Imagine Snowy Park, without the snow. Take that, add some stormy weather, custom textures/models, and a new soundtrack, and you have got the new and improved version now called Kirchhof. The map isn't quite ready for uploading yet, so here is a small taste of the map in it's current state. No FPS is posted in the screenshots, but I assure you that it is running 15+ higher than Snowy Park does. Also, the fog is going to be tweaked further, so the fog in the screenshots is by no means final. This "map" will be included in the next version of EyeCandy and will be put up on the EyeCandy server so that you can get the weather effects as well, since that is the only server-sided part of the changes we have made.

All feedback is welcome. Thanks.

Ok, I have started the process of importing Spearhead models into the map. Here is the first one finished. Its a damaged C47 plane. More images to come as things are added to the map.

Nice work but looks like it will play just like Snowy Park: lots of fog and very dark.

At least some varation to the stock maps 8)

Will there be an AA version as well?

Well, since I cannot edit the sunlevel, it will play dark no matter what. Cmon JV, think. hehe

What made you think this was for SH? Its for both AA and SH.

what about this?

local.light = spawn script_model
local.light model "fx/dummy.tik"
local.light light (1.0 1.0 1.0)
local.light lightRadius 100
local.light lightOn

some of these placed around the map will make it brighter you may need to play with the radius

The Models have been converted from Spearhead, they are AlliedAssault Models now. How does everyone feel about more firepower in the map?

Sorry about a lack of updates. Busy with a bunch of things.

I thought about adding lights as someone stated earlier, and I am going to go ahead and test that idea. Add lightposts with lights and see how it looks in the game.

Also, we have a few more models imported from Spearhead, such as parachute crates, rocks, and even a windmill from the Holland map. I will post more screens shortly.

Thanks for being patient.

Looks good, but the grass on the railings is a little odd. I've always thought that map needed more in it to make it interesting.

Butch, to answer your question, yes that is the destroyed C47 from Spearhead.

Ok folks, we have been really movin with the map today. Got an intro added in and some more models ready to go as well. Also testing some strange things such as triggers and func_rain boxes.

I'll keep you updated.
