Although sending it off to get fixed should give you a warranty on parts and all, waiting a month is like torture to us computer freaks! Can you handle that? 
If you knew it was just the mobo, you could swap it out in less than an hour and be back up and running! All it takes is some notes jotting down what you do, and then CAREFULLY installing the new MOBO and CAREFULLY installing your RAM and making sure everything else is in correctly. Not sure if you are up to the task but that is one sure way to save time and get yourself back up and running and you learn something new! Just a thought, do what you feel is best!Ace
