arches2

Post by tuffstuff7 »

uuuugh had my arches going fine but everynow and then now i am having this problem

i have my 2 walls i make a brush between them go to primitive>endcap

then i make it fit but donot rotate it yet (as when the endcaps are applied then radiant crashes)

i then go to caps >inverted endcap .....rotate/flip scoot over .......etc
and the arch looks fine great i hit esc to deselect it and one side of the cap disappears
with everything still in place i make a brush over the whole arch and go to select inside and it is there :?:

and i donot have any filters on can someone heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

ok to be honest i could not remember so i went back in and made the 2 walls over again and then the arch .....now on the side where the caps are there i see the caulk texture........like it is supposed to be and i hit esc and they went away................also JV ummm let me see if can explain this i had 2 arches i am working on and they are at 90 degree angles ...thses are in 2 seperate places,2 seperate arches........now as for the arches itself it is lined up 360/0 lying on its side to the 90 if you consider the top of the arch to be the head then it is lined up flat that way ......that is how the arches are starting out
so any ideas as to what i am doing wrong i have looked at your tut here but to be honest that is not the kind of arch i am making just a basic radiant made arch

ok well thisis what i did i used fast and compiled the map went into the map and the arches are there (*&#$(*#&$@#(*$&#($
i into radiant and the sides are not i put a brush around the arch and select inside and they are so that is what i am having a prob with also are you supposed to in surface proprties be able to move the text up and down like say on a flat wall becasue they are not lining up and if they disapper on me its pretty hard to tell without say just selecting the whole wall and arch then applying the text

me thinks radiant has a bit of a problem with endcaps...

after creatin an archway, i found that endcap really isn't a user friendly tool, but unfriendly tools can aways be worked around, sometimes with a little more work, sometimes with less,

if you just create a cylinder and then use CSG Subtract, (make sure it's not in the way of any other brushes) then just move the new set of brushes into the place te archway was to go

i've not had a problem since (although it would b nice 2 use endcapping) :D
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/
