MAKE $$$ ??? etc...

Post by nuggets »

we all sit here day in day out, some of us eat, some don't, some have fag breaks, but most smoke over the keyboard, all for 1 goal...

.>.>.>. TO MAKE MEDAL OF HONOR A NEVER ENDING GAME .<.<.<.

but... why... i really really do believe we have among us enough scripters / mappers / modellers / skinners / clipboard holders / and pen pushers to create our own game...

sound too big? now ask urself why... there is no reason we shouldn't compete with the games on the market at the moment, what do they have that we don't? with enough people involved we can get a game out there are be raking in the profits

although you think i really like editing medal of honor, does it really need to stop there, MOH has been a great learning curve for many of us... but maybe we should take a step back and think of the way forward

i'll be looking for a large team of people:
2 global scripters
3 ingame scripters
6 mappers
6 modellers
4 skinners
2 texturer's
2 anim support
then many a playtester to set foot across the door

whether your involoved in a modding team, think long term... what will you be doing in the next 2/3 years? still modding for a game that's struggling to keep it's name in magazines, or looking through the magazine while lay by ur pool in some foreign lands thinking, bloody hell, i'm glad i chose the path i did... we can all think what the right choice is

i have a few people in mind that i'd really really like to be part of the team, but i'll mention no names as of yet, if you either reply on here or e-mail me, we'll (we meaning me and another already involved) go over some work perviously done and decide whether we can really utilise the skills ur offering

as i said before this really isn't out of reach, every company has to start somewhere, they don't just appear big without sitting in basements for 16hours a day
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

You mean making our own game and selling it? Using Q3 engine? Cool! I always wanted that!

If possible i could sign up for scripting (all the scripting) and skinning.

that's precisely what i mean :D
the only other engine i would possibly use is the Hitman2 if i could find a copy of it anywhere
failing both of those i would want 2 create my own engine from either c++ or java, but that'd delay things even longer :(

you are 1 of the people i had in mind anyway :P so i'll put a little tick by ur name,

when we get a response from enough people we'll sit down (prob in msn) with cups of tea and discuss just what were gonna b doing

though at the moment i'd prefer for people to work in only one area, depending on applicant number's it may turn out that people will be involved in more than 1 area of expertise
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

lol, disregard the spamming thing... we all like 2 chat a lot and when we look over our last posts we realise most of it is entire nonsense :P

i've seen ur beretta that u made and i like a lot!!! i don't deny that, but the modelling section will include weapons, humans, animals, possibly the static objects, furniture, etc... although i've only seen the weapon side of ur skills, it shows ur more than capable,

although i'd love 2 say yes to u right now the deicision isn't left in my hands, there's more than the person typing this right now involoved with "nuggets" it's more of a comunal thing

i'll keep u updated as soon as i have the go ahead (but i'm pretty confident ur name will appear amongst the final choices) :D

hey nuggets, I've been doing some industrial design lately (chairs and stuff) . So that shouldn't be a problem. I'm still a n00b in the modeling buisness. www.planetmedalofhonor.com/hk/ has some pictures. I need to upload some pictures of chairs and stuff i suppose

But lately I've been doing work with General Haines, and do NOT want to give that up!

He means to make a GAME based on Q3 engine, like RTCW.

Hey, maybe not the Q3 engine? Hitman 2? Dunno.......

Im in. Mapping.

You do relize that you would probably need lots of mappers to make great designs? You can even start a site and do contests for best models/skins/map ideas/animations, whatever. I would like to help out with mapping and web design. this could be our contest page

www.Q3EngineContest.tk

and this could be the official WWII game itself

www.Q3WWII.tk

Just a thought?

Cool idea!

But you cant just use the pure engine an make a game by modding... you'll have to have some programmers to make the stuff around the engine too... right?

You looked at the Qbism engine?

I would be interested to hear more. Whats your background in programming? How real could this be?

I could help with mapping/prefabs/web support.

Big factor for me is that the game has mod community support from the creator:)

If this is a serious, money making, funky stuff producing project: I'm a c / C++ / Java programmer with mapping experience and a degree in vector mathematics :D

good to see quite a few replies just after 1 day,

the use of MOHradiant won't come in2 it, i / we'll b using an SDK for an opensource copy of radiant, i'll find the site again in a day or 2, unless some1 can post it on here :D

hopefully the genre will be either, dependant on preference (it is a group project after all, it's only my idea, i'm not the 1 doing all the work :P ) :

a) WW1
b) dungeons & dragons kinda thing
c) or futuristic stemming away from Quake I, II and III

with vietcong being on the shelves very soon / now in some countries it may give us some more ideas if we will b sticking with the WW themes

as for the workload...
not much will be able to be done until we have a good grounding of what needs 2 b done, which until the gauntlet is thrown down on the genre, we won't b able 2 b started straight away

as soon as people read this post and you want 2 get involved let me know!!!, we can only start work when we know just how big a project this can be,

Zeroskaten
if you can do anything with human / semi-human animation give it a shot, once we have scales, we will have a better understanding of what we want,

Yarik
though loads of mappers my be needed, i'd prefer to keep the number of people involved to a minimum, although i'm looking 4 a team of 25 people, that's really not that many if u think how much work will have 2 b done, the thing the will b mundane is mappers will be working from specified criteria not just what the mapper would like 2 make

this won't be a defined thing, and personal improvements will b added but with too many mappers it'll b hard 2 find out who's doing what when we're only getting our feet at the moment... you might b right and we'll find that we need about 40 mappers alone,

Bjarne BZR
exactly right,
if we could make something from MOHAA and release it on the market it would of been done many-a-time by now, it will involve a lot of exterior work that goes into the game that people really don't think about,

as you said cool idea... i'm still finding out for myself if this is really possible, but with the right team of people i really can't see why it won't be, we may find that only 5 people want 2 get involved and it'll take 35years to complete anything... then we'll all go back 2 modding, but surely with what people have done just from finding out they can edit MOH, creating a game is only the next step away :D

General Death
you as every1 else in here will know as much as i do, as soon as i do, i use VB C++ and Java,

as i said before i really don't see why this won't be possible... what did Tom Clancy, ID Software, UbiSoft, Infograms, etc... have when they were just starting out, except for 1 ambition

People yet to decide
hope to hear from you soon so we can start this ball rolling, don't b left behind ;)
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

Whoah Bjarne nice resume. I tried C++ many times but fail to learn it because the tutorials I find on the net dont fully explain why the h*ll they are adding a certain line to the code. So i just said screw it until I find a good tutorial.

The bad thing with C++ is that it has evolved for a looong time... and many things in the language are pure evil. Try Java for a language that is clean, consistent, beautiful... and: easy as f**k to learn :) ( At least compared to C++ ) The good thing about C++ is that it is "harder" compiled and for a specific machine, making it easier to make faster code...
