hold "ctrl" + "shift" to select surfaces and then apply textures by clicking on a wanted texture in the texture window (you must load them 1st thought -> click on the texture keyword box and type in the deisred type wood, metal, wall, door, etc...)

create a brush and place it where you want the hole to go, then click on Subtract on the toolbar (make sure it's not touching any terrain or radiant will crash, then delete the brush :D
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

Select the face of the brush that is incorrect (the upside-down texture) by holding down Ctl + Shift and selecting the brush face with the left mouse button. Be sure you didn't have anything else selected at this moment or it won't work right. Then hit the 'S' key to bring up "surface properties". There is all kinds of great stuff in there to shrink horizontally and vertically, move the texture on the brush horizontally and vertically, and to rotate the texture on the brush around and around and around in either direction. There is more there but you should play around with the rest to see what it does. This will give you alot of options on what you can do with the texture once it is placed on the brush face. Another hint: if you want to texture a bunch of brush faces the same, just texture one brush face the way you like it. Then by using your third mouse key (if you have one, mine is set up as the scroll button in the middle of my mouse) move your mouse pointer over the texture you just placed, press the third or middle mouse key, then go to an untextured face and while holding Ctl + Shift, press the third or middle mouse key again! It is a great way to duplicate faces. Then if you have a brush face that is not to your liking, and believe me, it will happen, go back to the earlier part of this post. Select the face, press 'S' to bring up surface properties and fix the texture. It takes time but after awhile, you'll be doing it in your sleep. Or you will be pressing the keys to move around web pages and you won't be able to figure out why it isn't working the way it's supposed to 'cuz you are still using the keys for Radiant and your brain is confused. LOL Am I the only one who does this? I spend so much time designing in Radiant and then catch myself using similar keystrokes in other areas of computing by mistake. Sheesh! Anyway, keep looking for tutorials on the stuff you are wanting to know. There are alot of good ones out there. Happy Mapping!

Select the texture, then press 's' and you can alter its orientation to your needs.

Why can't I answer posts in short form like you JV. Sheesh. Limit my posts to one sentence, is that it? Must be the reason why my post count is so low and yours is high. You get to the point and I ramble on. Like I'm doing right now!

hahaha, I know what ya mean! Happens to me too. I think guys like jv spend enough time on this site already by posting answers almost every day, so I understand why they want to keep things short.
Don't worry, I think it's cool to read about mapping and the 'crazy things' mappers do. I think it will get boring if we all wrote in one-liners. But it might help to use some blank lines or line-breaks now and then to make long posts easier to read.

Do a search or start a new thread for this topic ;)

It involves a bit more than you'd probably imagine.

 Thanks Pantera! I appreciate your insight. I just feel long winded for the most part and really want to help others out. Unfortunately, I can't say things in less than 10 words like JV can. He he....anyway.

Aza, I hope this helped you somehow. Mapping is a great thing. It brings out the real creative side in most people and to be a part of this forum, really helps alot too! Stick around, and maybe someday you'll be teaching the 'old farts' how to do stuff!
