Detail brushes arn't being saved!

Post by matt_moh »

I am having a problem with radiant when it comes to making brushes details. I selected a brush and made it a detail. It turned green like it is supposed to and when I filtered details it got filtered like it is supposed to. I made some other changes to my map and then saved it and quit. After compiling my map, I opened it later in radiant. When it opened, all my changes that I saved were still there, but my detail brush was structural again! :( Can anybody help me?

This is going to sound off-topic, but if you want to apply a texture to a brush, select all faces you want to texture and then click the texture.

If you select the entire brush and then click a texture, your detail brush is structural again

It still isn't saving! :x I selected a bunch of brushes, made them a detail, saved, and then quit without making any changes to their size or texture. when I loaded my map they were still structural. What else could be wrong? Do I have to select each brush individualy? :?

I made the same post got no answers . The sample map that came with the first radiant had brushes marked +surfaceparm detail but I find that if I try to open a map that someone has added surfaceparms to from the surface inspecter (s on the keyboard to open ) that the map won't show up in radiant the next time you try to open it you have to edit it and remove the surfaceparms . In the sample map m4l0 I had to remove all surfaceparms with notepad to see map but it compiled ok with the surfaceparms in the map . maybe when you are sure your map is done open the surface inspector and set the surfaceparm detail to your detail brushes . If some one does know let me know too .

Check your preferences for Mohradiant, the option "use quake3 .map format" should NOT be checked. If that option is checked then every brush that you have made detail will be structrual when you load the map into mohradiant.

Thanks storm that worked great I was tired of makeing brushes detail only to find that they were reseting them selves to structural . In fact after resetting them and saveing map I don't think I was getting a reduction in vis data size when I compiled yet other ppl talked about how it was suppose to reduce vis . Thanks

Found out about this when I was playing with the preferences a while ago!! I too couldn't understand why the detail brushes disapeared but since I knew that I had changed some option I just changed them again until I found out what caused the problem.
