Any way to use Bots to follow you?

Post by Yarik »

now that JV has made bots how would it be possible to make a bot stand still in the axis side. So the axis wont kill him. But when you come to rexcue him he follows you back to the beginin. And as soon as you take the hostage the axis fire both at you and the hostage. MP level.

I was thinking about that too. I'm thinking some way of setting whether the axis can do damage to an ai. That way, before the allies get to him, the axis can't hurt him and as soon as they do the axis can take him down. As well, when the allies get to him he starts following them. That way one could make a hostage rescue mission.

I think this is possible, I'm pretty sure they did similar things in the single player.

Yes that's possible. Actually I made some kind of hostage script for sniper snake long ago.

It's probably not a good idea to use my bots for this purpose though, just a regular scripted AI might do better.

nihilo, threatbias ignoreme is the command you're looking for.

threatbias ignoreme // <---- ?

that would make the ai ignore him, but what about players? I'm thinking about this for a mutiplayer objective map... Another thing is, I'd like it if the allies were able to kill him (sort of, if we can't have him, no one can).

Do you have that hostage script or even better, know where I can get a copy of the level he made out of it? I wouldn't mind looking through them.

Na I never finished them, they were full of bugs also. I don't think I have these scripts anymore, nor the ugly test map I made to test them.

Oh well to make an AI invulnerable, type

hmm.. so there is no way that you know of to make an ai invulnerable to a certain team?

I'll make do without an example, I guess, but it would make it easier. Ah well, the forums are here for me to beg for help in when I invariably run stuck.

you'll have to use ai instead of bots, otherwise it'll be possible for the player to end up spawning as the hostage
