(bot) Target Range Tutorial Map

Post by tltrude »

I call any map that includes the map file a tutorial map. You are welcome to try your hand at improving this one. It has 4 moving targets and playerstarts for two Team Deathmatch or Free-For-All players.

And if you want the Allied/Axis sniper scope shown above:

Update

Post by tltrude »

The target range map has been updated to include two jv_map bots that run back and forth behind a window. I also added a rail target. Download the new version from the same link in the first post.

Yarik - You are very welcome to use anything you want from this map (without credit to me), but if you use the bots, please give credit to jv_map.

do you think that you could increase the distance a bit for sniper practice? i still cant get the bots to show up, weird.

anyway, targets that chainge direction would be neet like going from left to right and then all of a sudden chainge direction.

and if its possible a new room with say two bots that try and wack you with a pistol? they would get up close and make it hard for to snipe em. i think that would be good.

if i can help in any way, let me know.
thanks

update

You have to put both pk3's in main to get the bots moving. I updated the map with more target bots, and bots that shoot back. Download the updated version from the same link in the first post.

it works fine now. a couple of comments/questions:
i cant seem to get the bots to shoot back.
the glass is breakable, and you can walk through and just kill the bots.
what are the numbers that print next to the crosshair when you shoot a target?

do you mind if i use parts your map in my own? i was thinking of a larger outdoor map for a clan sniper trainer. something like "city streets large" from rainbow6 if you are familiar with that game.

is there a way to keep "score"? like shots fired vs hits/kills?

thanks

shoot back

Post by tltrude »

The ones behind the glass don't have guns, but they should run back and forth. I added another room to the left with 6 bots that shoot, if the jv_map pk3 is in main.

The numbers are message triggers that just tell you which target you hit and you could put Key: setthread Value: scorekeeper in the triggers. Then in the script create a thread named scorekeeper to keep track of hits and print them on the screen.

You are welcome to use part or all of this map/script as you wish. You might try to get together with Yarik to see if his plans are similar to yours.
