light/shadows??

Post by Snake »

My first map is ready and compiled(final) my map with those options:-fast for Vis and for light i use final.
After the compiling there are some strange shadows and lights that i didn't use in my map.
Those shadows and lights are not there when i compiling my map with a leak.
What are the best options to use for a final compile, my Visdatasize is at 400 000 with details brushes.

These weird lights are the result of the radiosity compiler. Radiosity means any lit surface emits light in its surface color. This is meant to look realistic, but sometimes causes strange effects like in your map. Radiosity is only calculated if you have a .vis file (this implies you have a .prt file and therefore no leak in your map). To disable radiosity, compile with mohlight -bounce 0.

The best compiling options are the following:
q3map -blocksize 0
q3map -vis
mohlight -final [-bounce 0]
