Again another V2 complex

Post by Drecks »

It's a V2 style complex where you must destroy the axis radio
I created an evening atmosphere so it's all a bit dark.
And in case you are hit you can search for the Axis medicine
depot to get some cure.Keep this in mind while playing.

Ok your right. I know this but i have to choose....

I have visit several WW2 objects and bunkers.
And the problem is that when they make this bunkers and objects like the atlantikwall the Germans most of the time choose grey concrete.
Inside they use a white paint to make advantage of the brightness of the color in Mohaa i don't like this color..
I have tried to break the monotone structure with some concrete blocks
wires and boxes.
The option to choose different concrete like the bunker texture from algiers and the bunker texture from normandie seems also a bit strange.
Because why would they when they make a complex like this use two kinds of concrete.

Yes, it looks little plain as far as the walls are concerned but at the same time I dont think the Germans would have put alot of time into a fancy bunker facility...dunno

What is it with people wanting different textures on Houses in a map or on walls, You don't go to many towns and see different textures on them towns remain similar unless people want to different
Looks a nice map mate, who cares what color the walls are, at least ya cant walk through em

i like it!!! i know i keep saying that a lot recently but again, it's another 1 i like :P

we had a conversation on realism b4 in this forum, and how realistic, maps should be made, i can't see a problem with a repeating texture, if you walk down the street or look at old abandoned buildings, the colour of them doesn't change from one wall to the next,

but if you wanna change it, if you think the axis would like a add a touch of paint to their bunker then change it... if not then don't... it's up 2 u it's ur map :D

on another note, ur the 1st person i've seen use "del" as the use key
hope this helps, prob not cos it's all foreign 2 me :-/

Pfew

I'am glad some people think the same.

Take a walk down the street and look around. Most of the time the buildings in a block have the same materials used to build them.

It would be strange when i get half my complex and decide to use a brick wall. and some nice wooden panels on my walls.
The German's are known for there "grundlichheit" . They want fuctionality instead of nice buildings.

Here, here on texturing!!! I took some flak for my lack of use of tons of textures in my 'Tractor Works' map but seriously folks....IT WAS A FACTORY! That's how they all look. Even today, go to Russia, and you'll be shocked at the 'sameness' of new and old architecture. Any type of military or industrial complex is going to be rather bland. Even towns are for the most part built from a few primary sources of material giving sections of each town a 'sameness'. . . . usually because the towns were build up over the generations and each new growth spurt would include some new materials and design concepts that repeat from building to building.

IF you want 'wow' factor, folks need to work on 'detailing' the map. Little add-ins make a ton of difference. Pain in the a** sometimes to keep FPS high, but it's worth the pay off.

Just my 6 cents.

If you look at the Official V2 map - they don't use an abundance of textures but they combine a few textures to break up the dullness of the walls. Theres small borders along the bottom / tops of walls, grates here and there, pipes etc etc. It is possible to use a limited number of textures but have a map that doesn't look repetitive....

I have to agree, this building is made of concrete. Therefore, it will look like concrete and there won't be alot of different textures. I am still working on a V2 factory myself taken from the real-life V2 factory Bunker Eperlecques that was bombed by allied forces before completion and you will see nothing but concrete there. Unfortunately these buildings were solely made of the gray stuff and don't have much flavor to them. In my opinion, in gameplay, who is worried about too much of the gray. Not me, I'm more worried about realism and things looking right for the atmosphere. I'm sure those screenshots don't do it justice and the in-game look is much better. Looks good M8! Keep up the good work!

For me personally, I dont really care about too much concrete, if thats how it would look in reality then thats how it should look in the game, I know the Blockhaus ( Eperleques, just a massive chunk of concrete, I modelled my own Peenemunde factory on that building ) I dont mind samey textures at all, as long as the layout of the structures works then go for it, I like the look of your map, keep it up man !
