Ok , press Shift + F (The Edit Facet Flag box should pop-up). Then hold down ctrl+shift and left click on your terrain - you will see triangles "light up" - Once you have selected the area you want to "delete" check the box marked delete - voila - part of your LOD Terrain has been "deleted" and will not show up in game. You can double check what has been deleted by going to LoD-Terrain - Colour Surface Flags. The dull greeny yellow are the portions that have been deleted.
An easier method is to hold ctrl+shift+click on a patch of terrain (512x512) and then go to LOD terrain-->detatch selected patch. Then it comes out, and u just delete it.
