Bots v1.1 Released!

Just in case there was any reason to be a bit unhappy about the bots pk3 I decided to put together a newer version. Apart from support for non-respawning maps this new version features a load of minor improvements. You can get the new version at the Freebrief site.

Here's a small summary of improvements, which was in the bots forum since yesterday also:
  • Supports non-respawning bots (defaults to level.dmrespawning variable)
  • Number of bots now is controllable by jvbot_forcenumalliesbots and jvbot_forcenumaxisbots cvars
  • All spawners wait until there is at least one player in the game
  • Timelimit doesn't run out if a bomb is set
  • By default the number of bots will be decreased when new players join
  • Added a terminate round vote if all players are dead
  • Better distribution of bots over spawnpoints
  • Faster reactions
  • Bots now respond to pain
  • Made sure there is at least one attacking and one defending bot
  • Bots now operate in large squads
  • Camping bots run away if a bomb is going to blow (not very successful mostly)
  • Improved mg-42 targeting
  • Removed bot messages for 'preparing for deployment' and 'entered the battle'
  • Team kill messages are now in yellow
  • Added special_ladder2.scr for smoother ladder descending (requires changes in map)

I just downloaded the file. Gonna try it very very soon on our server, there isn't much people playin on it so it will add some more fun. :D


If i ever see anything weird, uncommon or that could be nice to add, gonna let you know :)

Can't wait to try it. Oh BTW, since there is a vote when all players are dead, if our server has vote disabled, the functionallity won't work?

Gonna put links to the sites of guys i see here on our website, people gotta know great guys working to enhance the game they play!!! ;)

The voting is just a custom script and should work regardless of server settings.

I didn't try to run it in Spearhead. It may work, or not :?

Damn you jv! Now I have to put in lots of time ( that I don't have ) to add these little buggers to Vemork factory! :wink:

Tried the riverside with the 1.1 bots, and can you believe it, they actually killed me a few times! I see you've made some exelent improvements... big up for you, evil robot master! :twisted: :D

Forget all i asked, i thought it was a pack that adds BOTs to any maps... :oops:

Downloaded the 2 already botted maps though. installing them right now, gonna try em tonight :D

I should have go read the Bots page before asking questions :roll:

The usa link is not working and the other one downloads the old version!!! I guess I'm not going to be able to use the new version anyway, because I don't want any allied bots in my map.

Oh lol that might sound a little confusing. The script won't spawn extra bots to accomplish that, but existing bots are given attack and defend tasks first, then if any bots are remaining they may decide themselves what they want to do.

The Utwente link is working for me :?, but I don't know what's up with the FilePlanet link :(
