Post by SNap007be »

To do pipes do can you find them as a model or you have to brush them.
Same for crates, and if so wot sizes should the brushes be?

Pipes - you need to use - curves -> primatives -> cylinder / dense cylinder.....

Crates - just make them out of brushes - for small crates i use 64x64x64

Pipes...as said above.
Crates: vary your sizes remembering that 16 units is one 'foot'. Most crates I make 48x48x48 or 16x16x32 or 16x16x48 etc. Variety is nice in size and stacking. Just be sure that the size of the crate, especially large ones, could actually have gotten through the door to the room/space they are in.

AND most importantly, vary their textures AND absolutely FIT the textures to the individual sides..... MAKING SURE that if you use any with text on them that the text is in the right direction, i.e. you may have to 'flip x' or 'flip y' to get it to look right. Nothing worse than seeing text upside down and/or backwards.

if you make your crate a func_crate you can also set the debis type
here is a line from the crates.cpp
"debristype" ( Integer type) sets the type of debris to spawn from the crate.
Valid values are from 0 - ?. Default is 0
0: wooden crate 32 units to a side
1: wooden crate 64 units to a side
2: cardboard crate 16 units to a side
3: cardboard crate 32 units to a side
