Solid vehicles problems

Post by Zer0x »

My first playable map is finaly starting to look like something :D It's a small and simple MP map in a depot, for a maximum of 4 or 6 players. I'm trying many tuts to learn how to use MoHRadiant. Right now I'm working on the details. Small objects, tables, lights and vehicles to make it look real (and thats harder than I thought!!).

But.... I'm having some troubles with the vehicles. Some vehicles are non-solid. So I made a box with the 'Clip' texture. Alltough you can't walk through them anymore, you can still shoot rockets and granades through them. I also tried some more textures but that didn't help.
How can is solve this?

Also, the GMC truck has a canvas cover on the back. I would like to make is possible for players to get in tha back of the GMC. This is what I would like to have: Players are able to shoot through the canvas cover, but grenades must bounce back. Is this possible?

Another problem is that some vehicles just disapear after a few shots with a rifle. Do I have to make a script to fix that or can I do that with the entity box?

what you CAN do is make the "clip" a script_object (it doesnt have to have clip texture). give it a targetname like "gmctruck_clip" now in your script just add this line somewhere after level waittill spawn:

Code: Select all

//the map

main::

level waittill prespawn

level waittill spawn

$gmctruck_clip hide
ps i dont know if you can make it so grenades bounce back or whatever it was

when you put a vehicle in the map, it needs a "destroyed" version of itself. when you shoot it, it "explodes" but i think you need to mess with exploder.scr to make it work right. if you dont want it to be destroyed by bullets you can do this...

Note: this is assuming the targetname of the vehicle is "truck"
//the map

level waittill prespawn

yada yada yada

level waittill spawn

$truck immune bullet
$truck immune bullet

//if you want it immune to everything put this..

$truck nodamage
