What angle makes the ladder work from the front?

Post by Silent_Death »

The tutorial told me to do 180 but that goes from the side, I tried 360 but that just doesn't work at all! So which angle will let me walk up to the ladder from the front and use it?

Look at your ladder from the top in the 2d view window. Highlight it and hit key N. Pretend you are standing on U|D in the center of tha angle buttons. Ok, now click on the angle you must face to climb the ladder in the 2d view.

The ladder plate should be thicker then I have it.

The angle depends on which way your ladder is facing. Try 270 or 90....

How can I find out which way my ladder is facing? Oh, and 270 made it work from the other side and 90 just didn't work at all!

If only I could put pictures up from my hard drive instead of from another site I would put a screen shot up showing you my ladder.

Hi,
the easest way ive found to know the orientation of your ladder is as
follows.
set your 2D map to top view (XY) then look at your map as you would a compass. (top = north, right = east, etc).
Then set your ladder angle to the way your are facing when your are
positioned in front of the ladder, i personally use this idea.
looking North = 90, East = 0, South = 270 and West = 180.

North to West may not run in numerical order but the map orientation starts facing east (0 degrees) as does your Start_Player point.

This idea maybe a bit long winded but i find it easier building a map
using the compass method as opposed to angles.

My work around to find the right angle is like this...

I drop in an ai, angle him so he faces the ladder, then make the ladder same angle as my ai, then delete the ai, dealt with......
Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta:
"If I win this war, you will be slaves forever."
The Spartan ephors sent back a one word reply: "If".

I looked at the map and the ladder was too close to a wall. In other words, to climb it players need more than 32 units of space in front of the ladder brush. The angle was right.
