Your Own textures
NoTarget posted this picture on the general forums. He has got .map on a pc. surely this mean you can make your own textures and use them? If you can, do you just pack some .tga or .jpg into a textures folder in a pk3 and put it in main? if that is how you do it then it is easy because just use pakscape.

8) Of course it's more work, but it's worth it. Your choice.m4rine wrote:seems like more work
I don't think it is essential unless you want your texture to have specific features. For instance if you'd want a texture that's supposed to be metal, you'd have to have a shader. (I don't know what it defaults to, but there's a chance that you won't hear any footsteps at all if you don't set a surfaceparm.)
I have one shader file with all my custom textures listed. Most of the times when I add a new texture all I need to do is copy and paste the text from some other texture and just change the name for my new texture.
