a stupid Q!?

Post by m0g »

Hehe... this is a stupid question, but I need suggestions on how to fix this.
I've got this FloatPlane: bad normal error in Mbuilder and cannot find the brush that is causing this. Somewhere here in the forum someone mentioned 'Vertex editing' but what does that mean? I know, i know... totally noobish, but im really getting into this stuff now and need a solution... argh!

Code: Select all

---- q3map ----
----- FS_Startup -----
----------------------
26683 files in pk3 files
FloatPlane: bad normal
lightmapdensity = 16.000000

I believe 'Vertex Editing' refers to moving the vertices! If you have a brush selected and press 'v' it will show up some green dots (the vertices). You can then move them around (editing). It works for LOD terrain and other things too (clylinders, cones, etc.)

Don't worry about asking questions, if you don't ask you'll never know! I've asked loads of silly questions

:)

ok i tried this:

I made a copy of my map, took all LOD terrains that i've been editing out, also all brushes... so now i've got a very squarish map!

Still the same problem and im sure there's nothing left :(

Is there a way to find brushes that has been edited on (vertex)?

ERROR: FloatPlane: bad normal

Somehow you've created an invalid brush in your map. At least one face of this brush will be invisible in game. This usually is the result of careless vertex-editing.

SOLUTION: Use a plugin (e.g. Rogue's) to remove bad brushes. Be careful with vertex editing in the future

Bad m0ggie, did you read this? ( page one of compiling errors post :P )

I don't have the Rogue plugin, so I wouldn't know :( (Bad zippie bad, lol)

You don't want dulpicate planes in your map though. Check the compile error post for that too :) (think it's page one also)
