Radiant=LOD Compile= NO LOD WTF?!

Post by Slyk »

Anybody?? In Radiant I see my LOD; was working fine for many, many test compiles and then suddenly it will NOT show up in ANY compile. I've saved it as a prefab and re-'placed' it and still no go. LOTS of hours involved in creating the LOD and, ofcourse, it matching up with the brushes work and is VERY important to my mental state-- to NOT recreate it.

Any thoughts???

Try clicking on LOD Terrain/Color Surface Flags. If your terrain turns a pale see-through gray, the facets have been set to delete mode. To fix it, Hold shift and Ctrl and left click on a 512 x 512 section. Then hit Shift F. Uncheck the delete box and highligh every bit of your terrain before hitting done. If that was the trouble, I will be surprised because I didn't think anyone could set their entire terrain to delete without clicking on each facet one at a time!

Thanks T, but it's 100% of the terrain, like 40+ blocks worth. I've used the 'delete' function on a lot of it that is under solid floors, on map edges, etc. Not at that machine until tomorrow now, but I will look at that... maybe it is possible somehow to select all of the LOD and give it the 'delete' flag.

If all else fails (it could be you video settings too), try looking through your map file (mymap.map) with wordpad. The terrain brush should start off looking like this:

// brush 8
{
terrainDef
{
249 137 0
-7808.000000 -4096.000000 -154.000000
{
0 0 ( misc_outside/bermudaagegrass_1 0 0 0.00 256 1 1 0 524288 0 )
0 0 ( misc_outside/bermudaagegrass_1 0 0 0.00 256 1 1 0 524288 0 )
0 0 ( misc_outside/bermudaagegrass_1 0 0 0.00 256 1 1 0 524288 0 )
etc...

and then there will be lines like this:

790.000000 ( nodraw ) ( nodraw )
856.000000 ( maxdetail ) ( maxdetail )
870.000000 ( ) ( )
868.000000 ( ) ( )
856.000000 ( ) ( )
864.000000 ( ) ( )
864.000000 ( ) ( )
870.000000 ( ) ( )
872.000000 ( ) ( )
870.000000 ( ) ( )
864.000000 ( ) ( )
820.000000 ( ) ( )
736.000000 ( ) ( )
622.000000 ( ) ( )
512.000000 ( ) ( )
402.000000 ( ) ( )
318.000000 ( nodraw ) ( nodraw )
228.000000 ( nodraw ) ( nodraw )
146.000000 ( nodraw ) ( nodraw )
70.000000 ( invisible ) ( invisible )
