Cyllinders/Spindles

Post by Jagdtiger »

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am fairly new at this so I need some help. I have just built a staircase. What I need to know is how to make cyllinders (these will be my spindles when I add the railing). Is there a tool for this in MOHRadiant? Or is it possible? Or should I just not have a railing altoghether?

u are in luck

-to make a cylinder, first make a normal brush the size you will want the cylinder to be

-with this brush selected, go to Brush->Arbitrary Sided

-enter any number between 16 and 22, but, in the interest of face count, no more

-click ok

-you can also make a full cylinder with the curve tool, but for your purposes, that is overkill

Curve

Make a brush the size of your spindle and look at it from the top in 2d. Then go to Curve/Primative/cylinder to make it round. It can be stretched and, if you hit key V, you can change its shape.

Note: For better overall preformance of your map, it is better to make your railings with railing textures--or so they say.

http://www.samurajdata.se/~ra/stair.php would have been handy for making the steps...
