help, getting started with bots
hi,
i just made a map, and im putting bots in it. i have all the pathnodes layed out and everything, for where the bots can move, adn i've run leveldesign and looked at the routes, and i have to go back and fix a few spts, but i have a question.
when i was walking around in the level, all the bots would stand, crouch, and laydown, and just keep repeating that. once i shot at them they would lay down and shoot back, and everyonce in a wqhile, a bot on my team would follow me around, but he would be standing and sitting and all that stuff too. whats wrong with them? what do i have to do to fix that?
thanks

those are the only ones i have, plus the map. they arent supposed to be used in spearhead right? it reminds me of spearhead, when i had half an update on, dont ask me how, and people were falling all over like they were being shot. maybe i have to add some routes around, instead of just having them roam freely.
after i shoot them or they see me and they shoot at me, they act ok, but until then they just jump around.
also, is there a way that i can change how far they see? like i have an allied bot on one side of the road and an axis one on the other and they cant see each other. then once one moves a little closer, they shoot at eachother...
i want like a giant firefight going on in the middle of the map... and they dont seem to see eachother. heh

Currently the sight distance depends on the weapon used and the farplane distance. The sight distances are by default relatively low. I found it necessary otherwise the bots would never plant a bomb.
How long is your road exactly? The bot sight distance differs from 512 (shotgun) to 4096 (sniper rifle).

i got them to see farther, i think, or they all just got more skilled...
i did:
level.axisbots.sight = 10000
level.alliesbots.sight = 10000
that works right? it does to me apparently, just make sure that im not imagining things.
now, i want them to stand up all the time. i saw in another post, someone wanted them to crouch and you said to put this in the scr:
exec global/crouch.scr
so i looked and saw an scr for standing and put this in the scr under this:
waitthread global/jv_bots/jv_mp_ai.scr::enable
i put:
exec global/stand.scr
but it doesnt seem to do anything...?
am i on the right track to getting them to stand?
thanks for the help

This can never work. It'll only result in the 'cannot cast int to listener' error (check your console).
Weird thing is you shouldn't have to force the bots to stand (they shouldn't lay down in the first place)
.
Maybe you could make a log? Type 'developer 1' and 'logfile 2' before starting the map. All console output will be dumped to qconsole.log in the /main folder.

here are some screen shots of them. they just keep going through these motions, falling down and getting up, unless it is the one following me. then they'll laydown, and role over a couple of times, and stand up again...
