Pointfile

Post by Daniel Radcliffe »

Can someone please tell me what exactly the pointfile is for and how were meant to deal with the red line.

My line just appears to randomly cross the map, and even falls below the map, although it isnt important as far as i can tell, i still want.need to know what its meant to be for.

Thx

It points to a leak in your map the red line goes from an entity to the void through your leak . some water textures and others will leak so chaulk the outside of your skybox and close the leaks run the compiler again and open mohradiant again and check for other leaks. If the compiler creates a .prt file you are ok no leaks .

Your goal should be to have no red line at all when you hit pointfile. Leaks into the void will mess up vis and lighting. So, seal up your skybox!

Ive checked the map carefully and there are no leaks anywhere near the red line.

The line runs from a swinging lantern in a roof down, through a window, along the air bfore diving through the floor of the map. It does not go through, or even near, any of the skybox othre than where it dives through the ground. And it dives through the middle of a brush, not near the edges.

So how exactly does it leak, especially as there is no brush in the map that even strenches close to the length that the red line does. Also i have retired the pointfile again and i no longer get the same line up, the line has moved completly and about 75% of the line is outside of the map.

So all i have to say is huh, i really dont understand what its doing. It compiles fine and looks fine, but this red line is still there.

Again i say huh?????

Delete the pointfile and recompile. Maybe it is an old one? (don'T know whether this could be so...)
Then if it is there again, you ought to have a leak. Is the brush it runs through terrain or detail? Only structural brushes seal the map.

I had the same problem. t I fixed it by rebuilding the wall that the red line passed through only further away. I had a patch mesh close to the wall but not peaking through that i thought might be the cause of the problem. Moving and rebuilding worked for me.
