Landsharking

Now I read about landsharking for I think the 3rd time and I must confess, I have no idea about it.
I found some information about using ladders but my attempts failed or I didn't recognize that I was actually landsharking, because I even don't know what it would look like...

This is probably because I do not play online (I did once and the result was as if all others were landsharking

) and therefore didn't bother till now.

Because I might release another map some day, I thought, it would be important to know how it's done to be able to hinder players to do so.

I read a thread of Gen Cobra explaining what to do to prevent it, but not being able to try, it's hard to test whether I did everything right.

So... Could anybody tell me how landsharking is done?

I'm afraid, you might say "yeah, let's breed another cheater...", but not playing online, I won't use it ingame anyway and you could still send a pm...

i think its something about going to ladders, and then they sort of fall off the ladder, but fall thru the ground also, and there underthe level.

yes, but how exactly?
And how must the map be made to enable this or how to prevent it?
Must that ladder 'stand' on the floor brush of the map or could a player fall under the map from any ladder in the map (even in the 3nd floor)?
If I made a map w/o skybox, I can walk over the edge and fall down, but then I'd be dead, so for landsharking, I'd have to fall onto any other brush below, wouldn't I?
Where in the standard maps could I try to do this ladder trick with a chance to succeed?

I know how to do it, but I don't think it would be appropriate to say how in a public forum.

When it's done it seems as though the player is caught in the ground brush. I think parts of them actually go through the bottom of the brush.

To prevent it you can try putting an object under the ladder, and back a bit from it. This may prevent the player from going into the map. Or a funner way would be to put a trigger_hurt/multiple box under the ground. That should kill the player as they go under. I haven't tried any of those suggestions myself, but I thought I seen a mod by the Cheat Police that had items under ladders to prevent players doing it, so that leads me to believe that it would work.

alcoholic number one that isn't landsharking and number two can you edit that we dont need hundreds of peeps now at .map trying to cheat

ass for preventing landsharking theres a serverside thing that when you hit the *use* key on the ladder it will kill you.

okay, let's forget about it. A PM which would explain this stuff is probably too dangerous and a public answer surely is even more dangerous, I understand.
