Map Lag question
I have a map that I have made, it is quite large and when it is played with 10 or so players, it is fine as an online game. But when there are 20 players on it, the server really lags. It is similar to The Hunt in lag but worst. Does anyone know how I can get the server lag down with the map without having to make changes to the server. The server runs fine on all other maps. I am playing around with Vis areas now but I have not tested it yet. Is this the best way to go? Also, does anyone know if LOD terrain effects lag of FPS? I get about 60fps on this map in most areas of it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

LOD Terrain
My whole map is covered in LOD terrain, should I replace it to get server lag to lessen?

LOD Terrain
I have a few flat area's in my map, if I replace the near flat LOD with a brush, will this speed the map up?
Probably not by much. Instead try setting the LOD faces in the flat area to "no detail" by editing the facet flags (SHIFT+F).
However vis leaf is as Nuggets said the way forward for overall performance gain. Bjarne's got a nice tutorial on that sort of optimising on his web page, if you are interested.

FPS and server lag
Are FPS and server lag related? With 20 people running between 60-100 FPS on my map, the ping rate goes right down. But once a few people have died and the numbers are about 10 or less, the ping is back to normal, but FPS is still the same? Any ideas?
If it only happens under this one map, than it stands to reason that it is some difference in the map that cause the lag. What that difference is I can't say. It may be that it is just bigger and therefor requires more memory/bandwidth/MHz/etc.
If it is an objective map it might be some badly composed scripts that makes it slow, these things are hard to check as one can't very well ask everybody to dl a new map every time they are to play.
If you do find a specific issue, let us know.

Lag
No offense taken. It seems to be the same problem as The Hunt objective map. The first 30 seconds when a round starts have bad pings for all users. The map completely lags. I think it has to be something like when there are lots of players, if there is a long street like the The Hunt, then MOHAA has to take into account that everyone can see down this street and has to work out things and this slows the game down. Sorry tha was not very clear. A way around this would be to have a turn in the road so you dont see as far maybe. Not sure as the Axis on this map cant see far at the start. Maybe it has to do with large open spaces. Does anyone else have this problem???
Thanks so far.
