Double Texture / Linking Objects
This is my first post so please don't blaim the n00b =)
Ok so, I have two burning questions I need to ask, I've tried everything!
Is it possible to link objects... Like when you build two objects (two cubes) you put those two together and is there a way to link them so it becomes one. so 1 cube [] + 1 cube [] link it and make it 1 [ ]
That way when you edit a cube you don't have like a million pieces but just one object.
Second question when I was looking at some spearhead maps I saw that in one object like the stair way they have 3 different textures in one object. how is the possible without making it hollow?
Please tell me this ...
thx

Yes, as a matter of fact, you can merge brushes.
But there are rules! The merged brushes cannot have any concave surfaces when mated. They must be convex.
So if you cut a doorway from a wall, and get 3 brushes, the door cutout makes the wall surface area "concave", so they will not merge.
To do this, first you must go into Edit-->Preferences, and click on "Wide Toolbar", and then restart Radiant.
Then the CSGMerge icon will be there near the Hollow icon, and the CSG Subtract icon.
Here's how it will then work. Select your brushes to merge, and hit the CSG Merge key.
Look here:

But the easier way to do it for cubes would be to just stretch them to size.
After you merge, snap the points to the grid!
To select one side of a brush for texturing, use 'ctrl + shift + LMB'

for more complex objects/brush groups, you can turn them into a func_group:
- Select all brushes that shall belong to this group
- Rightclick on one of them
- select in the menu: func/group
Now, when you have selected one brush of this group and you press Ctrl+E, all others will be selected, too.
Not very comfortable, but better than nothing...
(And we won't blame the n00b, you came to the right place!)

ah damn Wacko, I thought there really was a book =)
If there was a book I would definitly have bought it, I like mapping so much! It's really hard but I just practice a lot and I mange to find new things everytime I build more. I have a map called The Complex which can't be downloaded but if you like to see it I can give it to you, it is a bit similiar to the Complex of N64 game James Bond GoldenEye. But in the mean time I learned a lot and I like the scripting interaction as well!
Never the less I adore everyone who makes beautiful maps I always look at it with big eyes and the thought of "How the hell did he make this..."
I also see you have a lot of other stuff like calk, no draw (I know what those do) but you also have visible and stuff like that things in my eyes useless =/
I hope someday I will make very cool maps as well! Let's just pray =D
